Hand & Foot Casting

Congratulations! Baby has arrived and you can't quite believe how perfect & precious those tiny fingers and toes are... capture this precious moment to treasure it forever with a hand or foot casting, imprint, outprint or inkless print.

Currently taking casting bookings your appointment will be in the tranquil & relaxed environment at Bumpkins York. Our casting sessions are booked on a day dedicated to our Keepsake service; appointments are allocated a full hour so, although taking the cast can be a relatively quick process we have plenty of time should baby need a feed or a bit of time to relax. It also means we have the opportunity to discuss finishing & presentation options, to really understand how you envision the finished product to look.

Booking is available online but do please drop us a line with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions.....

When is the best time to have my babies hands or feet cast?

Tiny hands & feet don't stay so tiny for long! We'd recommend booking in once you're home & settled after having baby & feel comfortable out & about.

What to expect during your appointment

We allow plenty of time for your appointment as the best results come from a relaxed baby. This might be just after a feed or even when baby is sleeping, please think about what time of day might work best with your babies routine when choosing an appointment time.

It's best if you and baby both wear something old that for baby, gives easy access to hands or feet.

For babies bring some milk along, being distracted feeding can make all the difference, casts can even be taken whilst baby is sleeping or if you breast feed can be taken whilst you're doing that....we might just need to do some swapping around!

The process involves dunking the hand or foot into a skin safe substance which sets within a minute; once this is done the rest is over to us.

When will our finished product be ready to take home?

Around 8-12 weeks; we have to be sure the cast is fully dried out before the finishing process can commence.

Can we have a duplicated cast as a gift for family or loved ones?

We can, however, in order to make duplicate casts we would first need to make a silicone mould; the cost incurred doing this might mean it works out more cost efficiently to have more hands & feet cast during your inital appointment but each one is individual so you wouldn't obtain exact duplicates. Please email us to discuss your requirements.

How much does casting cost?

A single cast, one hand or one foot starts at £70 - the final cost will depend on the finish you choose & your presentation choice; plinth, framing etc

All of this is discussed and finalised when you come for the casting appointment.

When do I pay?

We don’t expect payments all at once, we ask for a booking deposit of 25% to secure your booking, then 50% on the day and the rest on collection.

Cash is preferable and we have a card machine which can accept all major credit/debit cards.
